CNC Operator and Toolmaker (JN -) Doncaster, England

Salary: GBP

16 per hour

Pay: £16 per hour

Hours:

40 hours per week

Shifts:

Monday to Friday

We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Toolmaker to join a well-established manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineering professional with experience in tooling, CNC machining, and production support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacture, modify, and maintain tooling, jigs, fixtures, and attachments.
  • Operate, set, and programme CNC mills and lathes.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance on tooling and production equipment.
  • Repair and maintain diecasting machines and dies.
  • Manufacture replacement parts through milling and turning processes.
  • Change tool and work offsets as required.
  • Improve machining programmes through optimisation of speeds, feeds, tooling, and machining strategies.
  • Test tooling before release to production.
  • Monitor tooling lifespan and manufacture or order replacement parts when required.
  • Maintain Kan Ban stock systems and tooling databases.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support production schedules and departmental KPI targets.
  • Attend daily production meetings and work closely with the Production Controller.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Assist with staff supervision, attendance monitoring, and return-to-work interviews where required.
Requirements
  • Level 3 qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline.
  • Strong experience in CNC machining, toolmaking, milling, and turning.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience with tool maintenance, repair, and manufacturing processes.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Supervisory experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Flexible approach to workload and changing business demands.
