Overview
Job Summary Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Practice Nurse looking to take the next step in your primary care career? We are an award-winning, patient-centred GP practice seeking an experienced Practice Nurse to join our team. The role includes general practice nursing duties and chronic disease management, including child/adult vaccinations, wound care and cervical cytology. Candidates should be competent in QOF chronic disease reviews and immunisations.
We offer a highly competitive rate and flexible hours, with options across main and branch sites. Experience with Non Medical Prescribing and minor ailments certificates is welcome. Overseas candidates must have NMC registration and a visa to work in the UK.
- Undertake chronic disease management in general practice
- Provide routine immunisations and child/adult vaccinations
- Perform wound care, dressings and suture removal
- Conduct cervical cytology and participate in the national screening programme
- ECGs and venepuncture
- Contraception services
- Apply knowledge of national and local guidelines and assess follow-up for stable patients per QOF requirements
- Diploma or equivalent; NMC registration
- Experience with QOF chronic disease management and immunisations
- Non Medical Prescribing and minor ailments certificates are welcome
- Full UK registration and right to work in the UK; overseas candidates must have NMC registration and visa
We are a national award-winning practice, including twice winners of NHS Leadership Awards. We offer community surgery at our practices, including onsite Carpal Tunnel Surgery conducted by Orthopaedic Consultants. We hold suspect cancer clinics twice weekly and are among the few GP practices nationally to do this. We have a total team of over 30 staff including GPs, HCAs, Nurse Associates, Care Co-ordinators, Physician Associate, Practice Pharmacists, MSK practitioners and a dedicated frontline administrative staff.

Hours of work can be from a minimum of 4 hours to a maximum of 37.5 hours (WTE). We welcome practice nurses who wish to train to be Advanced Nurse Practitioner or to obtain a prescribing certificate. A salary rise is offered after 6 months with a discretionary bonus after the first full year of your contract.
Person Specification- Essential:
Registered first level nurse; clinical supervision - Desirable: relevant nursing/health degree
- Essential experience: minimum 2 years post-registration; management of long-term conditions; involvement in implementing and using protocols and clinical guidelines
- Desirable: primary and community nursing experience; participation in quality initiatives; experience of audit
- Knowledge: needs of patients with long-term conditions; awareness of clinical governance and patient group directions
- Skills:
clinical skills including cervical cytology, immunisation, wound care; teaching and mentorship; chronic disease experience
