The role of the Children's Epilepsy Nurse is to work within the community providing information, support and advice about the condition from the time of diagnosis. The nurse will support and work with the Epilepsy Nurse Specialist to help children, young people, and their families reach their goals of self‑management.

The position is a part‑time (30 hours per week) permanent role.

• Support children, young people and families to self‑manage, reducing hospital admissions.
• Support the lead professionals for childhood epilepsy.
• Co‑ordinate the care of patients between secondary, tertiary, general practice and community care to improve the quality of life and health outcomes for the service user and their families.
• Provide an epilepsy service that ensures patients receive appropriate management in line with current and future NICE guidance.
• Support continuity of care between community, multi‑agency services and ensure seamless care between specialised and non‑specialised services.
• Act as one of the first points of contact for children, young people and their families and for other professionals in Doncaster, offering support and advice to minimise seizures and maximize patient and carer's opportunity to live life as they wish.
• Support the ongoing care and management of the caseload in the absence of the Epilepsy Nurse Specialist.

• NMC registered Nurse (Child)
• Evidence of level 6 study within the last 3 years or demonstrable experience in paediatric epilepsy.
• Post‑graduate study.
• Community experience.

• Demonstrable experience of working within children’s nursing settings.
• Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge in epilepsy.
• Experience managing patient caseloads.
• Experience in community setting.
• Experience of clinic setting.

£39,959 to £48,117 per year, dependent on experience.
