Position: Prevention & Intervention Officer
An opportunity has arisen within our Prevention section for a Prevention Intervention Officer based at Doncaster Station.

Full Time – 37 Hours per week (Flexi Time)

Salary: £28,598 – £31,022 per annum (Grade
5)
* To increase subject to national pay award negotiations for 2026.

The overall purpose of the role will be to deliver inclusive, community-focused education programmes that promote safety across all age groups in South Yorkshire. The role aims to reduce risks related to road traffic collisions, water safety, fire safety, and anti-social behaviour fires by analysing incident data to develop targeted initiatives. Acting as a key liaison for district teams, the role fosters collaboration between Community Safety and Emergency Response, ensuring cohesive prevention strategies.

It also embeds safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion principles into all activities, ensuring appropriate referrals and inclusive engagement with diverse communities.

To be considered for this role, candidates should have relevant experience in designing and delivering inclusive community safety or educational programmes, with a strong understanding of fire, water, and road safety. Experience in analysing incident data to identify trends and developing targeted prevention strategies, along with a proven ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency teams and diverse communities, is essential.

You must possess strong communication and presentation skills suited to a variety of audiences, alongside a good knowledge of safeguarding, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion principles. The role requires the ability to develop engaging educational content, monitor and evaluate initiatives effectively, and demonstrate a proactive approach to continuous professional development and working collaboratively within a team.

Key Duties Will Include:

* Designing and delivering inclusive educational programmes on community safety topics such as RTCs, water safety, fire safety, and Anti-Social Behaviour fires.

* Analysing incident data to identify trends and developing targeted prevention initiatives.

* Collaborating with community groups, schools, and multi-agency teams to promote awareness and positive behaviour change.

* Engaging with diverse audiences, including vulnerable and underrepresented groups, to ensure inclusive outreach.

* Supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based safety initiatives.

* Acting as a key contact for district teams to foster effective communication and collaboration between Community Safety and Emergency Response.

* Embedding safeguarding, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion principles into all activities and ensuring compliance with organisational policies.

* Monitoring and reviewing programme effectiveness, providing feedback, and making continuous improvements.

* Representing the organisation at public events and campaigns to promote community safety initiatives.

* Maintaining accurate records of activities while ensuring data protection and GDPR compliance.

* Supporting team members through mentoring, training, and operational support as required

New starters will commence on the bottom of the salary grade and will receive increases to the top of the grade on an incremental basis. We offer 28 days annual leave (pro-rata) plus Bank Holidays. Annual leave increases after 5 years’ service to 32 days, followed by an extra day a year up to a maximum of 37 days. We also operate a generous flexi time attendance scheme.
