The North Carolina Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Payment Processing Specialist to work in our Submissions Processing Department. The primary purpose of the Payment Processing Specialist position is to prepare documents with checks that cannot go straight to the XDS Scanners to be scanned. The documents are prepared in-house through the MPV Stats database. The specialist determines the correct tax criteria and data to enter on tax vouchers that are created timely and accurately according to the divisional goals.

The other associated functions are to deposit checks timely and allow payments to process and post to the Department’s Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS). Additional duties of the team include determining the correct method to prepare returns and payments from other divisions that can or cannot be deposited through the (ICL) Image cash letter or other data capture platforms.

/Management Preferences
*** Intermediate working knowledge of PC, Windows and Microsoft Office products
* Able to type 40 wpm and 7000kph with 98% accuracy
* Experience working in a fast-paced team production environment
* Experience in prioritizing work to meet deadlines and production standards with a high degree of accuracy
* Adapt to changes within the workflow and team environments and apply applicable guidelines

Recruitment Range: $32.000 - $39,000
* Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.
