Fire Alarm Inspector
Job Responsibilities- Test and inspection of various low voltage systems, makes and models, completing tests and inspections per NFPA
72 and other standards - Enter testing results using company software on iPads; basic technology skills needed
- Tag systems using the current FAL License with the State of Texas
- Analyze and troubleshoot fire alarm systems including ground-faults, shorts, wire integrity, termination, panel, fuses, battery testing, and more
- Program dialers for monitoring; knowledge of phone line traditional and cell phone monitoring is needed
- Complete basic repairs and installations including moves, adds, relays for all types of systems and devices
- Prepare final reports, deficiency reports and possible bids via computer and/or tablet
- Interact with clients, field personnel and fire marshals
- Willing to travel occasionally
- Handle low voltage wiring and related devices for operation of low voltage equipment
- Operate with minimal supervision while performing fire protection inspections
- Communicate daily with Project Manager and/or Schedule Coordinator about inspection or project delays, requirements and status
- Coordinate with Project Manager, Schedule Coordinator and Office Administrative Staff to ensure complete closeout and turnover of jobs to client (confirm work is completed for billing)
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- NICET preferred for experienced Technician
- Field installation experience is a plus
- Solid knowledge of NFPA 72, Factory Mutual and applicable codes preferred
- Understanding of expenses and scheduling
- Manufactures certifications are preferred but not required (EST, Gamewell, FCI, Notifier, Honeywell, Simplex, Siemens, Radionics, Firelite, Silent Night)
- Willing to obtain additional licenses required by WSFP
- FAL License required
- Strong working knowledge of life safety and NFPA codes
- Willing to perform testing and maintenance
- Able to complete documentation as necessary, proficient in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Office, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Willing to coordinate between inspection deficiencies and service required to correct found deficiencies
- Prepared to read and write English clearly
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, AHJs and the general public
- Possess a valid driver’s license in accordance with Company policy
- Willing to pass post-offer drug screen, background and reference check
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
- Regular bending, reaching, climbing and walking
