The Financial Reporting & Tax Accountant position based in Dorchester is a full-time role with a competitive salary and attractive benefits.
As a member of our team you will prepare annual statutory financial statements and supporting disclosures, support audit activities, and manage a range of tax compliance responsibilities across corporation tax, VAT, and PAYE.
We offer flexible working arrangements, including part‑time or condensed hours, and require you to be eligible to work in the UK without restriction.
Responsibilities- Prepare annual statutory financial statements and supporting disclosures.
- Assist with year‑end audit activities and liaise with external auditors.
- Support corporation tax computations and reporting processes.
- Manage VAT returns and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Assist with PAYE and employment tax obligations, including annual reporting requirements.
- Work alongside external tax advisers on technical tax matters.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards and tax legislation, assess potential impact on the business.
- Support Companies House filing requirements and statutory deadlines.
- Contribute to regulatory reporting, including Gender Pay Gap reporting and other compliance submissions.
- Maintain tax governance documentation, risk registers and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes through automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (or be in the final stages of qualification).
- Strong financial accounting and statutory reporting knowledge.
- Good understanding of UK accounting standards.
- Previous exposure to one or more areas of tax, including Corporation Tax, VAT or PAYE.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to research technical accounting issues.
- Strong communication skills, confident in explaining complex financial matters to non‑finance stakeholders.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- A proactive approach with a genuine desire to continue developing technical expertise.
- Experience gained within audit, practice or financial reporting is highly advantageous.
