Business Administrator

Role: Full time Band 3 administrator in the Adult Psychology Service.

Location: 30 Maiden Castle Road, Dorchester.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with strong attention to detail to provide comprehensive administrative support to the team. The successful candidate will be able to multi‑task and work flexibly to manage the workload in accordance with agreed quality standards, and will have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes, including Outlook and Word.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Main duties of the job

To ensure the provision of a professional, efficient, and confidential administration service and a high standard of customer care.

Provide information to patients, staff, carers, relatives, G.Ps and Community Mental Health Teams, relating to appointments, patient care, service pathways and meetings.

Maintain computer systems, spreadsheets and databases required by the team.

Answer the phone, using sound communication skills, and sometimes respond calmly to challenging or aggressive communication from patients.

Maintain Excel databases, assist with audits and surveys.

Person Specification Knowledge, skills and training
  • RSA Standard II Word Processing or equivalent
  • Use of Excel databases
  • Good communication skills (written, verbal and telephone manner)
Job specific experience
  • Previous experience working in a busy office
Information technology
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and use of the Internet
Personal qualities/attributes
  • Enthusiastic and motivated with a positive approach to work
  • Ability to work on own initiative whilst being a team player
