We re looking for an exceptional person to join our Trade Skills team! You will be supporting our Trade Skills instructor to deliver lessons to small groups of pupils. This is a new post within the school working 30.25hrs per week, term-time only. The job can be quite physical, as you ll be mixing mortar, cutting wood and other manual handling, so it s important that you are willing and able to do this.

This vocational provision that we offer our pupils is to encourage them to possibly embark on an apprenticeship when they leave us or to further their knowledge and skills s is a Grade 7 Senior technician post but you won t be required to supervise other staff. The job attracts a Grade 7 salary to reflect the challenge that can sometimes arise from supporting vulnerable children in a classroom.

We are in the process of relocating our Trade Skills provision to a brand new facility on our Monkton Park site, so it s an exciting time to be joining us!

Dorchester Learning Centre provides education for the most vulnerable students in Dorset. We are the only school in Dorset that has the Trauma and Mental Health Informed School accreditation. We are a learning community that is child centred, putting the needs of our students first. We look to appoint dynamic, creative and resilient individuals to the role of Technician within our school.

The Dorchester Learning Centre has a main teaching base close to Dorchester (Monkton Park). The cohort ranges in age from 5 - 16. Visits to the school are encouraged and recommended.

The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.

The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted at the start of employment and again if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.

This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.
