Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Compass Plus) at Compass Learning Centre

Key Information

  • Position:
    Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for Compass Plus, a fixed‑term role until 31 August 2026.
  • Working hours:

    32 hours per week over 5 days, term time including INSET days.
  • Salary:
    Grade 9, points 19‑25. Pay range £23,957 – £27,172 (salary for 32 h/d: £32,061 – £36,363 PA FTE).
  • Pay weeks: 45.05 paid weeks.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and facilitate classroom subjects (English, Maths, Vocational Studies) for students in Key Stage 4 (Years 10 & 11).
  • Support the delivery of outdoor education activities and other non‑traditional classroom work.
  • Work independently under teachers’ direction and collaboratively with other education professionals.
  • Assist with teaching groups and individuals, adapting lessons to meet each student’s needs.
  • Promote inclusive practices and support safeguarding and protection of all students.
Key Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4/C or above, including English and Mathematics.
  • Qualified HLTA status.
  • Experience with young people with complex needs and challenging behaviours (preferred).
  • Experience or interest in outdoor education or non‑traditional classroom settings (preferred).
  • Commitment to the inclusion of all students.
