Cover Supervisor

Overview

Prospero Teaching is recruiting enthusiastic and confident Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Dorset from January 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering a future in teaching, educational psychology, youth work, or other education-based careers. You’ll gain valuable hands-on experience managing classrooms, supporting young people, and developing the skills highly sought after in the education sector.

• Lead lessons using pre-prepared teaching materials
• Maintain a positive, focused, and engaging classroom environment
• Support students in completing tasks and achieving learning objectives
• Manage behaviour confidently and professionally
• Ensure continuity of learning across a range of subjects
• Build positive relationships with students and staff

• ICT / Computer Science
• Physical Education
• Art & Performing Arts

• Confident, adaptable, and resilient
• Excellent communicators with strong interpersonal skills
• Passionate about supporting young people
• Comfortable leading groups and managing a classroom environment
• Keen to gain experience in secondary education

• Experience working with young people in schools, coaching, tutoring, youth work, or similar settings
• A degree or strong academic background (preferred but not essential)
• Safeguarding training (desirable, but training can be provided)

• Right to Work in the UK
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Two recent professional references
