Pathology Co‑ordinator
Winterbourne Hospital – Dorchester
Full time – 37.5 hours per week (Permanent)
Salary:
Up to £25,190.11 per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

We have an opportunity for a Pathology Co‑ordinator to join our Pathology department. The role holder will cover a flexible shift pattern.
Duties of this role include- Oversee the day‑to‑day coordination of pathology services, ensuring timely and accurate processing of diagnostic tests.
- Liaise with internal departments and external laboratories to manage test requests, collections, and result reporting.
- Act as the first point of contact for pathology‑related queries from clinical staff, consultants, and laboratory providers.
- Ensure results are communicated promptly to the appropriate clinical teams, escalating abnormal or urgent results as necessary.
- Ensure adherence to sample handling protocols, infection prevention standards, and relevant health and safety procedures.
- Support audit processes, incident reporting and implementation of service improvement actions.
- Previous experience in a healthcare, laboratory or diagnostic services environment.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and ability to liaise with clinical and non‑clinical colleagues.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and diagnostic processes.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
