The Goods In/Stores Person role is a full-time, on-site position based at Purbeck Electronics Limited in Dorchester. The role involves receiving and checking incoming goods against delivery notes, inspecting materials for damage or discrepancies, and accurately recording stock movements in the inventory system. The Goods In/Stores Person will label, store, and organize components and materials in designated locations, ensuring that stock is easily accessible for production teams.
Day-to-day tasks include preparing and issuing kits and parts to the shop floor, supporting stock counts and audits, maintaining a clean and safe stores environment, and liaising with colleagues and suppliers to resolve delivery or stock issues. The role may also involve supporting continuous improvement initiatives in stores processes and assisting with basic training or guidance for new team members.
- Candidates should possess strong Communication and Customer Service skills to interact effectively with colleagues, couriers, and suppliers.
- Candidates should possess Organization Skills and experience handling inventory or stock control in a warehouse, stores, or similar environment.
- Candidates should possess Retail Sales or transactional handling experience, with accurate recording of goods, orders, or stock movements.
- Candidates should possess Training or mentoring capability to support onboarding and share best practices within the stores area.
- Attention to detail and accuracy when checking deliveries, labelling stock, and updating inventory systems.
- A decent level of IT skills, including use of email and inventory or MRP software; willingness to learn company-specific systems.
- Ability to lift and move goods safely, follow health and safety procedures, and maintain a tidy, compliant stores environment.
- Previous experience in electronics manufacturing, logistics, or warehouse operations is beneficial but not essential.
