Assistant Project Manager – Wessex Water

An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Project Manager to join the team at Galliford Try to work on Wessex Water projects across the Dorset region.

What you will be doing:
  • Project Planning & Execution:
    Support the development of project plans, timelines, and resource allocations to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Task Management:
    Help organize and delegate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure that all deliverables are completed on schedule.
  • Communication & Coordination:
    Maintain clear and consistent communication between team members, stakeholders, and vendors; facilitate meetings and distribute updates.
  • Administrative Support:
    Manage project documentation, maintain version control, schedule meetings, and prepare detailed reports for project stakeholders.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:
    Gather and analyze project data to track performance, identify issues, and provide regular updates to the project manager.
  • Risk Management:

    Assist in identifying potential risks, monitoring project health, and helping to develop and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Budget Management:
    Support budget tracking and expense monitoring to ensure adherence to financial goals.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Contribute to ensuring that all deliverables meet established quality standards and client expectations.
  • Problem Solving:
    Help address challenges as they arise and work collaboratively with the project manager to develop effective solutions.
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Strong organizational and time management skills – able to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – capable of building positive relationships and facilitating collaboration.
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset – adept at identifying issues and developing actionable solutions.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools – familiarity with agile, waterfall, or hybrid approaches is a plus.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively – take initiative while being an active team player.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy – essential for managing documentation and ensuring data integrity.
  • Experience with relevant software – such as Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, MS Project, Smartsheet).
