About the role
Are you looking to return to Social Work after a period away? Has your Social Work Registration lapsed?
Dorset Council are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to Return to Social Work.
If you have been away from the profession for over two years, Dorset Council can offer a Return to Social Work programme to support your learning and development, with the opportunity to work in a social work team to gain the required supervised practice to re-register with Social Work England.
We can offer a paid placement opportunity as a Family Worker for up to 6 months. This will help you complete the required supervised practice days.
Alongside this paid role, we will offer an extensive support programme to help ease your transition back into the profession.
We welcome applications from all backgrounds; however, we are unable to provide sponsorship at this time and you must have the right to work in the UK.
About you- You must have experience of working with children and families in a social care setting.
- You must have been previously registered with a social work body in England (HCPC or Social Work England).
- You will be employed as a Family Worker.
You will be supporting our teams, which involves direct work with children and their families; creating, supporting and contributing to multi‑agency plans and interventions to improve outcomes and life chances for children and young people in Dorset.
This role will be responsible for the delivery of support to children, young people and families in localities, taking a whole family approach.

Further InformationThis is a fixed term contract for 6 months with the opportunity to interview for a social worker post towards the end of the 6 months if you are successful at re-registering during this time scale.
This post requires significant travel. You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed.
