The role What will you be doing?We’re looking for an experienced Operational Resilience Lead to join our Operational Risk & Resilience team. In this role, you’ll lead the delivery and continuous improvement of Unum’s Operational Resilience Framework — ensuring we can effectively prepare for, withstand, and recover from disruption. You’ll oversee Business Continuity Planning, support Technology on Disaster Recovery, run scenario and resilience testing, and act as a key member of our Crisis Management arrangements.
You’ll work closely with teams across the business to assess resilience impacts, strengthen continuity plans, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance the Operational Resilience Framework, including self assessments and maturity planning. assessments and maturity planning.
- Identify and map Important Business Services and oversee scenario testing.
- Lead Business Continuity Planning and support Disaster Recovery activities.
- Support crisis management processes and maintain related plans and playbooks.
- Integrate resilience requirements into business change and third party arrangements. party arrangements.
- Produce MI, reporting, and evidence for audits, governance, and regulatory reviews.
- Deliver training and awareness to strengthen organisational resilience.
- Strong experience in operational resilience, business continuity, DR and crisis management — ideally within financial services.
- Knowledge of PRA/FCA resilience requirements and ability to apply them practically.
- Experience running resilience exercises and managing complex incidents calmly and effectively.
- Confident communicator able to influence senior stakeholders and lead workshops.
- Understanding of technology resilience, cyber risk, and supplier dependency risks.
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. BCI, IRM, ISACA) welcomed.
