Position: Let Estate Building Supervisor

We're looking for an experienced Buildings Supervisor to organise and manage building maintenance, reactive repairs, planned preventative maintenance programmes, and a range of property projects.

This role is primarily focused on our Let Estate portfolio across London, including properties at Osterley Park and Morden Hall Park, as well as selected Surrey locations such as Polesden Lacey and the Surrey Hills.

Working with us, no two days are the same. You could be outon siteinvestigating reactive repairs, organising next year’s planned maintenance work or in the officemaintainingcompliancepaperwork.

Thisis a supervisory role, so youwon’tbe “on the tools”,instead,you’llwork with external contractors, developing, and managing productive working relationships for a mutually beneficialoutcome.

Your contractual location will be Polesden Lacey, Surrey and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other timeswith opportunity to work from London National Trust Office.

Regular travel across the portfolio will berequiredto support properties throughout London and Surrey.

You willbe required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

What you'll be doing

You’llbe responsible the day-to-day maintenance and repair of our Let Estate buildings across London.

You'llmanage day to day repairs to our properties, through to cottagerefurbishmentsandredecoration programmes.

You’llhandle organising planned repairs for residential,agricultural and commercial buildings.

Managing the delivery of budgets for conservation and maintenance works in conjunction with Estate Manager and Senior Building Surveyor, who you will report to,you’llsupport and develop relationships with contractors.

You’lloversee risk management in the delivery of projects and investigating and advising on remedial works to properties.

You’llfoster positive working relationships with tenants and other key stakeholders alongside our Lettings Officer and Estate Managers.

The role requires strong demonstrable experience in managing delegated budgets and ensuring maintenance works and projects are delivered on budget and on time.

Who we're looking for

We want to hear from you if:

  • You have in depth knowledge of buildings pathology, enabling you toidentifyand make recommendations on remedial and planned works.
  • Your communication skills are strong, enabling you to work effectively with contractors,tenant sand colleagues within the National Trust.
  • You'vegot a sound understanding of relevant construction legislation, and managing key risks such as asbestos and electrical safety, as well as an understanding of different construction materials and their impact on historic buildings.
  • You have awareness of the restrictions on works to Listed Buildings and the relationship between buildings and ecology.
  • You'recomputer literate, using email, word, excel, messaging systems and a bespoke property management system.
