Welder / Fabricator
Location:
Dorking
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum
Hours:
Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week (Shift rotation: Early and Lates)
Overall Purpose of the Position
To assemble and weld parts and major fabrications in mild and stainless-steel materials, ensuring adherence to engineering specifications and company quality standards.
About the Company:
Our client is a highly regarded specialist in the repair and fabrication of HGVs, offering state-of-the-art new build and refurbishment services. With a strong reputation for quality and innovation, they are now expanding their team and seeking a skilled Welder / Fabricator to join their Dorking facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Weld and fabricate commercial vehicle bodies and chassis using MIG and TIG processes
Assemble and weld components and major fabrications from engineering drawings
Work with mild steel and stainless steel (1.6mm to 6mm thickness)
Read and interpret engineering drawings and ISO quality standards
Mark out, fettle, clean and finish parts to meet paint and finishing requirements
Pressure and leak test fabrications as required
Maintain high standards of self-inspection and reject substandard work
Complete required work records and paperwork accurately and timely
Follow all health & safety procedures in accordance with company policy and risk assessments
Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Cross-train to gain full competency across multiple fabrication tasks
Contribute to process improvements and support team initiatives
Skills & Attributes:
Proficient in MIG & TIG welding
Experience working with stainless steel
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
High attention to detail and quality control
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to upskill and undertake welder coding
Qualifications:
Recognised welding qualifications
Welder approval certificates
Completion of relevant intense welding training courses
