  • Starting Salary:
    Real Living Wage
  • Working Hours:

    Monday to Thursday (7:00am - 5:00pm) and Friday (8:00am - 2:00pm).
  • Flexi Fridays:
    Build up additional hours during the week for the opportunity to take selected Fridays off.

Key Responsibilities

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Polymer Manufacturing Technician Apprentice to join the team, supporting the manufacture of high-quality plastic components through precision injection and compression moulding. You'll learn how to operate and monitor production processes, work safely with specialist machinery and materials, and contribute to the efficient production of components that meet the highest quality standards.

This apprenticeship provides an excellent foundation for a career in advanced manufacturing and engineering. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll develop a broad range of practical, technical and problem‑solving skills while gaining valuable industry experience in a supportive environment.

  • Learn how to set up and operate injection and compression moulding machines.
  • Assist with preparing, installing and removing mould tools ready for production.
  • Support the loading of raw materials and monitor manufacturing processes to help produce high-quality plastic components.
  • Carry out routine quality checks to ensure products meet customer specifications.
  • Help complete production records and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Assist with cleaning, maintaining and preparing machinery, tools and equipment for safe operation.
  • Support mould changes and production changeovers to keep manufacturing running efficiently.
  • Learn basic maintenance and troubleshooting techniques to help identify and resolve production issues.

    Work with the tool room and finishing departments to develop a broad understanding of the manufacturing process. li>
  • Follow all health, safety, quality and environmental procedures at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across different departments to support production activities and continuous improvement.

You're comfortable around machinery, noise and industrial processes, and enjoy work where you can see clear, tangible results at the end of the day. You're naturally curious about how things work and have an interest in engineering, manufacturing and problem solving.

You follow instructions carefully and understand the importance of safety, quality and consistency. Working to standard operating procedures feels natural to you, and you take pride in doing things properly. Reliable and punctual, you're comfortable with structured shifts and routines, and can stay focused even when tasks are repetitive or high‑volume.
