Fire Hydrant Technician – Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service

As a Fire Hydrant Technician in our Assets department you will:

  • Be responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of fire hydrants and other water supplies, ensuring all work is carried out to the required standard as stipulated by the Water and Foam Officer
  • Carry out repairs to fire hydrants in roadways, verges and pavements adopting the appropriate level of workplace protection to show consideration for your own safety and that of other road users in line with health & safety and highways legislation
  • Work with water supply companies to report major defects and leaks. Diagnose and rectify minor defects ensuring electronic records reflect work carried out
  • Comment on plans for new developments relating to our fire hydrant requirements
  • Responding to queries from crews relating to fire hydrant defects

  • Experience of and ability to undertake manual handling and practical tasks such as inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of equipment
  • Strong attention to detail particularly for accurate data entry
  • Able to work on own initiative with good organisational and time management skills

Salary: £31,537 - £33,143 per annum (rising by annual increments to £33,143)
