We are currently recruiting for an experienced Machine Shop Supervisor to join an established engineering and manufacturing business based in Christchurch.
This is a key role within the Production team, responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the Machine Shop, keeping production on schedule and supporting the team to deliver quality products on time and to specification.
The Role
As Machine Shop Supervisor, you will be responsible for:
Take ownership of day-to-day production priorities, helping to keep machining activity on track.
Monitor workloads and identify ways to keep production moving efficiently when priorities change.
Make the best use of people, machinery and available resources across the Machine Shop.
Coordinate works orders, materials and production schedules to support a smooth workflow.
Work alongside the Production Manager to maintain high standards of quality and delivery.
Help manage the scheduling and progression of jobs through the Machine Shop.
Support the team with quality-related issues and corrective actions where required.
Look for opportunities to improve processes, reduce issues and increase efficiency.
Provide general day-to-day support and leadership within the Machine Shop.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with a machining/manufacturing background who is confident coordinating people, machinery and workloads within a busy production environment.
Ideally, you will have:
Previous experience as a Machine Shop Supervisor, Production Supervisor, Senior Machinist or similar.
Strong knowledge of CNC machining and manufacturing processes.
Experience managing production schedules and prioritising workloads.
The ability to identify and resolve production issues quickly.
Good understanding of quality processes, NCRs and ECRs.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
A proactive approach to improving efficiency, quality and on-time delivery.

£45,250 – £49,750 basic salary
