*** JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
** The Learning and Tutoring Center Tutor provides tutoring support to students in at least one high-demand subject area such as sciences, accounting, information technology, or skilled trades courses. The Tutor may also provide academic support with basic skills of English, reading, and study skills, as well as with College-supported software programs.
** ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:*
* • Assist students with understanding assignments and concepts in a specialized subject area.
• Assist students with academic applications of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Assist students with navigating MCC systems and software.
• Assist with other general Learning and Tutoring Center tasks as assigned.
• Attend work activities or programs as scheduled or assigned.

* KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* • Knowledge of subject matter to be tutored.
• Ability to explain complex subject matter with patience and attention to detail.
• Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other college supported systems.
• Excellent communication skills, including active listening.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to demonstrate cooperation and professionalism in stressful situations.
• Ability to work and interact effectively with various cultures and ethnicities.
** MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* • Associate degree or pursuit of an associate degree.
• Minimum of 42 quarter hours (or the equivalent) of college coursework with a minimum 3.25 GPA, including a minimum of “B” grades in coursework related to the courses to be tutored.
• Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
• Ability to travel between campuses for meetings or position responsibilities.
• Must pass a background check.
