Treatment Nurse
The Orchards at Douglas Cove is currently seeking a Treatment Nurse to join our team. The treatment nurse oversees and provides care for residents with wounds, ostomies, or continence disorders. Treatment Nurses work with residents who have gastrointestinal stomas for feeding tubes or colostomy bags, skin ulcers, drains, surgical incisions, or pressure sores. Any type of breach in the skin qualifies as a wound and would be monitored by the Treatment Nurse along side weekly rounding Wound Care Physician.
Wound Care Nurse Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssess and document patients’ wound conditions and overall health status.
Develop individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
Perform wound care treatments, including dressing changes, debridement, and infection control measures.
Educate patients and their families about wound care, prevention strategies, and self-management techniques.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
Stay informed about the latest advancements in wound care practices and technologies.
Current LPN or RN license in Michigan.
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with a focus on wound care preferred.
Certification in wound care (e.g., CWCN, CWS, WCC) is highly desirable.
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
