Pay Rate: $24.09– $26.70
Responsibilities- Job Overview: The Drawing 2 Operator is a medium skill role and will be required to coordinate, set up, and operate the drawing machine to draw various sizes of copper wire from feeder stock.
- General Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent;
Must read, write, and speak English;
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus;
Must be able to stand and lift heavy loads for long periods of time;
Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs. - Primary Job Tasks: Responsible for set-up and operation of multiwire drawing machine; operate to run correct wire sizes and lengths on proper take-up package as specified on production order; load and unload sets of bobbins/reels; perform all pay-off bobbin/reel changes and take-up reel changes; make high quality hot-welds and cold-welds in feeder stock; maintain a layer wound package; maintain correct inventory of WIP tags daily;
ensure proper die set-ups; measure wire after the various dies to ensure desired reduction; string wires in proper position for take-up package; monitor, evaluate and adjust machine controls to produce quality wire at specified speeds; check concentration of drawing solution; diagnose problems with feeder stock; coordinate material handling with lift driver for continuous production; measure elongation of each wire on take-up packages to ensure proper annealing;
use non-deformed take-up and pay-off packages; string up dies for wire-size changeovers and breakouts; examine wire to detect potential causes of breakouts; perform gear changes, traverse adjustments and annealer settings; weigh each take-up package prior to recording production; communicate with supervisor and peers; place scrap in designated scrap bins. - Cross Training: Will be required to cross-train on equipment within identified workgroup; may be required to fill the position in the event of absence or vacancy; rotate on a set frequency to maintain skill proficiency.
- Quality: Use ISO Quality System documentation to guide daily quality activities; perform quality checks as outlined; do not release products until all quality checks have passed; immediately report quality issues to supervisor or quality manager.
- Safety: Working safely is a condition of employment; observe safety rules and maintain good housekeeping; follow all safety procedures and rules.
- Physical/Environmental Demands: Physical activities include balance, climbing, fingering, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, standing, stooping, walking and sitting; must be able to work in hot and cold environments typical of a non-climate-controlled facility.
