Maintenance Technician

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician performs skilled labor in the maintenance and repair of County grounds and facilities; assigned tasks may be completed with little or no supervision; tasks may be performed indoors and outdoors. Occasionally, ascends/descends ladders, scaffolds, stairs and may work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud machinery. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Support:
  Provides front-line maintenance for all County owned properties; support, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs for incoming questions and problems related to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, landscape, or various building and grounds maintenance issues. Resolve work orders and follow-up on service calls. Provides end user training and support for new and existing systems or equipment. Writes and updates standardized procedures for various Maintenance-related tasks.
• Systems Maintenance:
  Installs new equipment or components, both for new systems and as part of regular systems upgrades or repairs. Monitors building (lighting, HVAC, etc.) and grounds (irrigation) systems for continuing functionality and proactively implements updates, replaces equipment etc. to ensure smooth operation of all systems, coordinating with the Maintenance Staff as necessary. Provides support to the Maintenance department on infrastructure installation projects by physical support, recommending equipment purchases, maintaining up-to-date documentation, and other tasks as required.
• Inspections:
  Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network. Assure compliance with state and Federal policies and regulations within all facets of the Department.
