Position: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)- Georgia School Based

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of full-time, school-based experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired

Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI / VIT) – Qualifications and Responsibilities:

  • Provide assessment and instructional services to visually impaired children, including individual assessments, direct instruction, and collaboration with school staff, families, and external providers
  • Establish caseloads, procedures, and resources needed to manage vision programs and support IEP goals
  • Deliver direct services through classroom presentations, co-teaching in general education settings, and in-service sessions for staff and parents
  • Provide targeted instruction to visually impaired students in both group and 1:1 formats
  • Consult with teachers, parents, school personnel, and other professionals to share insights, recommend services, and develop comprehensive educational plans
  • Utilize and provide training on assistive technologies such as Braille Note, refreshabraille with iPads, Zoom Text, Duxbury, and other computer-based accessibility tools

License - Education - Certification Requirements:

  • Required: Minimum of a Master's degree in a related field
  • Required: Active State Teaching License as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, with any additional state-mandated endorsements
