Medical Support Specialist RN – Bio Life Plasma Services
Position:
Medical Support Specialist RN.
Location:
USA – GA – Douglasville. The role reports to the Plasma Center Manager and operates under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and the Center Physician for medical issues.
As a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse), you will support plasma center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. You will follow SOPs, provide center‑level support for EHS, and collaborate with medical affairs and EHS as needed.
Responsibilities- You will determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- You will evaluate donor reactions, following SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance concerning donor safety and eligibility.
- You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
- You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, referring to EHS guidance.
- You may act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats in the local community as indicated.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment:
Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA). - Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
Hourly Wage Range: $31.92 – $43.89 (USD). Actual wage may vary based on qualifications, experience, and location, and will meet local minimum wage requirements.
