SEN Teaching Assistant – Year 10 Student (ASD & ADHD)

Location: Secondary School, Tower Hamlets
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only
Start Date: ASAP
Pay: £(insert range) per day, depending on experience

A supportive and inclusive secondary school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work closely with a Year 10 student who has a diagnosis of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and ADHD
.

This is a vital 1:1 role focused on helping the student access learning, stay regulated, and develop confidence, independence and positive learning habits.

• Provide 1:1 support to a Year 10 student across core and option subjects
• Implement personalised support strategies aligned with the student’s EHCP
• Use ASD- and ADHD-friendly approaches, including visual supports and structured routines
• Help with emotional regulation, attention, organisation and transitions
• Support classroom engagement, task completion and social interactions
• Work closely with teachers, SENCo and pastoral staff to monitor progress
• Promote independence while offering encouragement and reassurance
• Maintain accurate notes and contribute to review meetings when required

• Experience supporting students with ASD and/or ADHD in a school setting
• Strong understanding of communication strategies, sensory needs and behaviour support
• Patient, calm, consistent and able to build trust
• Confident working with teenagers and supporting their social, emotional and academic needs
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Able to implement structure, predictability and clear boundaries
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
