Mental Health & Wellbeing Officer
Protocol Education is working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Mental Health & Wellbeing Officer.
This is an important role within the school’s pastoral structure, focused on supporting students’ emotional wellbeing and promoting positive mental health across the wider school community. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring that students feel safe, supported, and able to engage fully in their education.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide targeted 1:1 support for students experiencing emotional, social, or behavioural challenges
Deliver small group interventions focused on resilience, self-regulation, and wellbeing
Work closely with the safeguarding, pastoral, and SEND teams to ensure coordinated support
Contribute to the development of whole-school wellbeing initiatives
Liaise with external agencies and mental health services where appropriate
Maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding and data protection policies
The school is seeking a candidate who:
Has experience supporting young people with mental health or SEMH needs
Demonstrates a trauma-informed and person-centred approach
Possesses strong safeguarding knowledge and understanding of statutory guidance
Is confident delivering both individual and group interventions
Communicates effectively with students, staff, parents, and external professionals
Maintains professionalism, resilience, and sound judgement in challenging situations
Experience with in a secondary school, alternative provision, youth service, or similar setting is highly desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
