A welcoming Tower Hamlets primary school is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a Year 3 pupil within the school's SEMH provision. The pupil benefits from structured, calm support to engage with learning and manage emotional regulation within a mainstream classroom setting.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will implement behaviour and social‑emotional strategies, assist with transitions, and work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to ensure consistent support throughout the day.
The Ideal CandidateThe school is looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant who:
- Has experience supporting pupils with SEMH or challenging behaviour
- Can remain calm, patient, and consistent
- Understands behaviour plans, restorative approaches, and trauma-informed practice
- Builds strong relationships with pupils while maintaining clear boundaries
- Holds an Enhanced DBS (or is willing to apply)
- Structured SEMH provision with small group sizes
- Experienced leadership and SEN support
- A positive, inclusive mainstream school environment
