Job Overview

A fantastic school in Central London is looking to appoint a team of Literacy Teaching Assistants and English tutors starting September 2026. Candidates will work on a flexible part‑time basis, supporting students who need additional help and guidance.

Candidate Profile

We welcome applications from English graduates who are passionate about working with young people, as well as teachers wishing to take on a role with less responsibility. Previous experience as a teaching assistant, mentor or tutor in a school setting, or with a private tuition company, will be considered an advantage.

Typical Responsibilities
  • Work with staff to select students for mentoring
  • Discuss aims of mentoring with pupils
  • Support pupils inside and outside the classroom
  • Agree and write action plans
  • Occasionally make home visits to talk to parents about issues and offer advice on strategies
  • Liaise with schools, teachers, social workers and educational psychologists and make referrals where appropriate
  • Aid pupils with the transition to secondary education
  • Help pupils increase their confidence and self‑esteem by listening to them and devising appropriate strategies
