We are looking for a passionate and dedicated teacher to join our expanding team at EKC Dover College. If you have a background in teaching English and are committed to helping students achieve their full potential, we want to hear from you!
As a Lecturer of Functional Skills English
, you'll inspire and support learners to develop the English skills they need to succeed in education, employment, and everyday life. Through engaging, inclusive teaching, you'll create a positive learning environment where every student is encouraged to reach their full potential.
- Deliver high-quality Functional Skills English teaching across a range of learning environments.
- Plan, deliver and assess engaging lessons that meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Support and motivate students to achieve their individual goals and maximise their potential.
- Monitor learner progress, provide constructive feedback, and implement strategies to drive achievement.
- Lead designated study programmes and/or courses where appropriate, ensuring an outstanding learner experience.
- Design, deliver and evaluate programmes to ensure they remain effective, innovative and aligned with curriculum requirements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to continuously enhance teaching, learning and assessment.
Hours per week: 15
Working patternMonday 8.30am-8.30pm and Tuesday 11.30am-3.30pm
Salary
: £14,639 up to £16,037
We pride ourselves in the support we can give those who are new to teaching, with ongoing training and coaching through our Teacher Academy which includes digital skills support. AboutYou
You’ll be a highly organised and creative educator, with the ability to plan and deliver engaging, innovative lessons that inspire learners. You’ll have strong interpersonal skills, a positive and empathetic approach, and the confidence to manage a classroom effectively. Tracking student progress and using this to plan targeted support and interventions will be a key part of your role.
Ideally, you’ll have experience teaching or delivering training in the workplace, although this isn’t essential as full training will be provided. You’ll be able to teach across Level 1 to Level 3 programmes and motivate learners to achieve and succeed in their studies.

Please note that there are two salary scale points for our Lecturer positions. All candidates will start at the introductory salary scale point unless certain criteria are met. Lecturers will normally move up to the highest salary scale once a full academic year of teaching for our group is complete. (Lecturers must be in post by 1st September in any given year to qualify and this is subject to approval).
Therefore, internal applicants in the same role may qualify for the higher salary scale, although should seek clarification.
