About The Role

Are you passionate about helping learners build confidence and develop essential Maths skills? Join us as a Lecturer in Functional English Skills! As a Lecturer of Functional Skills Maths at EKC Group, you'll inspire and support learners to develop the mathematical skills and confidence they need to succeed in education, employment and everyday life. Alongside teaching Functional Skills Maths, you'll also deliver our Introduction to College course, helping students explore a range of subject areas while developing the essential skills needed for progression, further study and future employment.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging Functional Skills Maths lessons across a variety of learning environments.
  • Teach on our Introduction to College programme, supporting learners as they transition into college life and prepare for their next steps.
  • Plan, deliver and assess high-quality learning that meets the diverse needs of students.
  • Motivate and support learners to achieve their individual goals and reach their full potential.
  • Monitor learner progress, provide constructive feedback and implement strategies to drive achievement.
  • Lead designated study programmes and/or courses where appropriate, ensuring an outstanding learner experience.
  • Design, deliver and evaluate programmes to ensure they are innovative, effective and responsive to learner and curriculum needs.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to continually enhance teaching, learning and assessment.
Working Pattern

Monday 8:30am‑5:00pm
Tuesday 8:30am‑5:00pm
Wednesday 8:30am‑12:00pm

Salary

18.5 hours per week with a salary of £18,055 up to £19,780. All candidates will start at the introductory salary scale point unless certain criteria are met. Lecturers will normally move up to the highest salary scale once a full academic year of teaching for our group is complete. Lecturers must be in post by 1 st September in any given year to qualify and this is subject to approval.

About You

You’ll be a highly organised and creative educator, with the ability to plan and deliver engaging, innovative lessons that inspire learners. You’ll have strong interpersonal skills, a positive and empathetic approach, and the confidence to manage a classroom effectively. Tracking student progress and using this to plan targeted support and interventions will be a key part of your role.

Ideally, you’ll have experience teaching or delivering training in the workplace, although this isn’t essential as full training will be provided. You’ll be able to teach across Level 1 to Level 3 programmes and motivate learners to achieve and succeed in their studies.

We pride ourselves in the support we can give those who are new to teaching, with ongoing training and coaching through our Teacher Academy which includes digital skills support.
