Overview
Front-End & Back-End App Developer (Volunteer – Hybrid Social Impact Project) for Loop Root Foundation. This role is a volunteer position during our MVP and pre-funding stage, with opportunities for paid transition post-launch.
The Loop Roots Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to supporting justice-impacted families through transportation, therapy, and technology-driven programs. Our mission is to remove the physical, financial, and emotional barriers that prevent families from maintaining meaningful connections with incarcerated loved ones, accessing mental health care, or navigating reentry. Founded in 2025, the Loop Roots Foundation operates nationally, with an initial focus on underserved communities in Maryland, Arizona, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, California, and Virginia.
Our programs include Loop Connect (ride credit sponsorship for prison visitation), Loop Talk (HIPAA-compliant virtual therapy), and Loop Troop Rideshare Partnership to provide safe, reliable transportation. The Foundation is committed to using technology-enabled tools to restore dignity and reduce generational harm, offering programs without discrimination.

About Us:
The Loop Roots Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on rebuilding family connections, reentry support, and community stability through technology, wellness, and transportation access. Our tech partner, Loop Troop Inc., is developing a rideshare and logistics platform connecting families to visitation, care, and opportunity.
We are seeking both Front-End and Back-End Developers (or full-stack candidates) who are passionate about building products that matter. You’ll collaborate with our Tech Lead, Product Designers, and UI/UX Team to bring the Loop Troop app and Foundation web platforms to life.
This is a volunteer position during our MVP and pre-funding stage, with opportunities for paid transition post-launch.
Key Responsibilities Front-End Developer- Build user interfaces for the Loop Troop App and Foundation dashboard using Next.js / React.js.
- Implement UI/UX designs from Figma, ensuring responsive, inclusive, and accessible experiences.
- Integrate APIs (Stripe, Checkr, Twilio, Google Maps, etc.) for payment, verification, and route management.
- Collaborate closely with UI/UX and QA teams for testing and refinement.
- Develop and maintain APIs and backend services for trip scheduling, user profiles, and payment systems.
- Work with Node.js / Express / Firebase / Supabase / Postgre
SQL (or similar). - Implement authentication, user management, and secure data storage.
- Collaborate with front-end developers to ensure seamless integration and scalability.
- Proficiency in React.js / Next.js / Node.js / Firebase / Postgre
SQL or comparable modern frameworks. - Understanding of RESTful APIs, cloud functions, and scalable architecture.
- Experience with Git/Git Hub and collaborative development.
- Familiarity with Stripe, Twilio, or Checkr APIs preferred.
