Job DescriptionPosition Overview:
Seeking a skilled Architect–Project Manager to provide technical and administrative support for the design, renovation, and construction of state-owned buildings. This position is responsible for managing project scopes, budgets, and architectural designs, while ensuring compliance with building codes and design standards. The successful candidate will work closely with state agencies to support a wide range of facility types, including correctional, educational, healthcare, and administrative buildings.
Key Responsibilities:Provide technical project management and support for operational systems in new and renovated state buildings.
Assist in pre-design services including planning, programming, scope development, and cost estimating for construction and renovation projects.
Advise and coordinate with agency leaders and other state officials on the development and execution of construction and renovation plans.
Ensure all projects meet applicable building and life safety codes, including height, area, and egress standards.
Negotiate design standards and space requirements with agency stakeholders.
Manage and negotiate contracts for architectural services on behalf of statewide and individual agency clients.
Prepare reports, correspondence, design reviews, specifications, and bid packages for agencies without internal engineering staff.
Design and draft architectural plans for new construction and renovation projects using AutoCAD software.
Produce architectural drawings for small buildings and minor capital improvement projects.
RequirementsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in architecture or related field preferred.
Experience: 3–5 years of experience in architectural design, space planning, and construction project management, as described above.
Certification: Must hold a Certificate of Registration as a Delaware Architect.
Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD and architectural drawing software
Strong knowledge of building codes, life safety regulations, and space planning standards
