Base Pay Range

$18.73/hr - $28.09/hr

Location

Position: Kent Campus Hospital

Status: Full Time 8 Hours

Shift: Day / Evening

Salary Range: $16.98 - $25.48 hourly

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for each child’s safety and health; maintain classroom control within licensing and N.A.E.Y.C. guidelines.
  • Plan and conduct a wide variety of age‑appropriate activities to meet the social, intellectual, physical, and emotional needs of children.
  • Maintain records and check‑lists on each child’s growth and development using the Creative Curriculum Assessment tool; conduct at least two parent conferences per school year.
  • Direct and supervise Assistant Teachers and any other adults in the classroom; provide input on performance evaluations.
  • Assist with communication to Assistant Teachers and parents; contribute to the Child Care Center newsletter monthly.
  • Implement curriculum consistent with goals for children; promote learning and development across social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive areas.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope and range of responsibilities.
Required Education, Credentials, and Experience
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED with at least 9 college credits, 3 of which in child development or early childhood education; or
  • Completion of TECE 1 and TECE 2; or
  • Completed Montessori Infant and Toddler/Early Childhood credential; or
  • Completion of Delaware DOL Early Childhood Apprenticeship; or
  • Completion of a vocational/tech school 3‑year early childhood education program.
  • Credentials: DEED certification within 60 days;
    Heart saver certification within 60 days.
  • Experience: One year working with preschool‑age or younger children in a group setting.
Preferred Education, Credentials, and Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Child Psychology, or Elementary Special Education; or related degree with required credits.
  • Credentials: Delaware Educator Data System certification.
  • Experience: Two to four years working with preschool children in a center or school setting; or supervised student teaching experience.
