General SummaryPerforms patient vascular diagnostic procedures with appropriate level of skill; in a timely and dependable manner consistent with current standards of care and departmental and/or hospital policy and procedure. Utilizes critical thinking skills to ensure appropriate testing within scope of practice. Maintains IAC accreditation. Provide age specific care to patients of all ages. Serve as a professional resource to others regarding vascular testing.
Responsibilities- Patient preparation:
Instructs, explains and properly prepares patients for the ordered exam; gathers appropriate patient history; assists patients in proper positioning for the exam ordered. - Performing Procedures:
Utilizes job-related information and technical skills; performs exams in accordance with standards and/or departmental procedures and protocols; conducts patient safety screening prior to procedures; follows established protocols; provides detailed preliminary reports per guidelines. - Quality:
Monitors technical quality per IAC Standards and Guidelines for Vascular testing; works with the Vascular Lab IAC Medical Director to establish and maintain protocols; reports quality measures biannually and as needed; maintains pertinent logs and materials to support accreditations; prepares and submits application materials for IAC accreditation; completes audits as requested by IAC. - Equipment:
Reports problems to Clinical Engineering and IT to ensure equipment and computerized systems (PACS, Epic) are functioning; informs management of issues. - Other Duties:
Assists other staff as needed; oversees scheduling of the designated lab in coordination with schedulers and registrars; performs other duties within scope as assigned.
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED;
Diagnostic Medical Sonography Certificate Program - Credential(s):
Basic Life Support;
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer; OR RCIS - Experience:
Required:
Successful completion of a certification program and/or two years vascular ultrasound experience. Preferred:
Supervisory experience and experience with IAC accreditation.
