General

Summary:


Perform direct patient cardiac diagnostic testing procedures with appropriate level of skill under the general supervision of a registered cardiac sonographer; in a timely and dependable manner consistent with current standards of care and departmental and/or hospital policy and procedure. Provide age-specific care to patients of all ages.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately perform all echocardiogram studies ordered by physicians, limited to:
  Transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, Pulsed wave Doppler, and Continuous wave Doppler.
• Utilizes effective time management by prioritizing care and accommodating unforeseen circumstances while maintaining a high standard of quality, service, and professionalism.
• Accurately assesses hospital information systems for processing and correct charging of all echocardiogram studies.
• Implement appropriate infection control practices and demonstrates a working knowledge of aseptic techniques and equipment disinfection.
• All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and

Experience:

• Education:
  
  High School Diploma or GED Certificate Program;
  Enrollment in a CAAHEP cardiac or cardiovascular ultrasound program.
• Credential(s):
  Registered Cardiac Sonographer within 1 year of hire;
  Basic Life Support;
  Or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) within one year of hire.
• Experience:
  
  Required:
  
  At least 200 hours of clinical experience in a hospital/healthcare setting performing 2-D Echocardiogram studies.

Preferred Education, Credential(s) and

Experience:

• Education:
  
  Certificate Program Cardiovascular Sonography;
  Pending graduate of a CAAHEP approved cardiac or cardiovascular sonography program within 3 months of hire.
