Bayhealth Medical Center is Central and Southern Delaware’s healthcare leader with hospitals in Dover and Milford, as well as stand-alone Emergency Department in Smyrna and a hybrid Emergency Department and Urgent Care in Milton. We offer various practice settings throughout Kent and Sussex Counties. Bayhealth Medical Center Kent Campus is 90 minutes from Philadelphia, Washington, DC and Baltimore. Our Sussex Campus is 30 minutes to the Delaware beaches and relaxation in the sand!

SALARY RANGE: 81,843. YEARLY

General

Summary:

A licensed Pharmacist responsible for assuring Pharmacy is providing the highest standards pertaining to patient and staff safety. Ensuring the Pharmacy is compliant with all Joint Commission and other Federal and State regulatory agencies overseeing Bayhealth. Incumbent is responsible for investigating all Safety First Reports and responding appropriately.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates all activities related to medication safety and regulatory compliance: a) Reporting b) System and process evaluation c) Formulation of recommendations and initiatives d) Coordination of intervention strategies e) Monitoring of activities related to medication safety and regulatory compliance
  • Identifies key projects related to medication safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Accountable for coordinating the implementation of these projects system-wide.
  • Ensures compliance with State and Federal Regulations as well as legal requirements relating to medication safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Assists in the Accreditation Process.
  • Conducts Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis.
  • Identifies safety and regulatory deficiencies; suggests and helps to implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Participates in the departmental and unit based improvement process on a routine basis and other task force / committees as designated.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of the defined standards and criteria used by High Reliability Organizations.

Required Education, Credential(s) and

Experience:

  • Education:

    Bachelor Degree
  • Pharmacy
  • Credential(s):
    Licensed Pharmacist
  • Experience:

    Minimum of 5 years of experience in Hospital Pharmacy

Preferred: Eight (8) years of experience in an acute hospital setting with managerial experience. Comprehensive knowledge of current standards and regulations disseminated by The Joint Commission, Delaware State Board of Pharmacy, FDA, USP, and ASHP as they relate to medication safety and departmental and organizational regulatory compliance. Knowledge of pharmacy operations, personnel management, and budgets.
