Patient Care Registered Nurse RN – Med Surg

Bayhealth is a leading healthcare system with hospitals in Dover and Milford, plus a hybrid emergency department in Milton. The Kent Campus in Dover serves patients across Kent and Sussex counties.

Base Pay Range: $36.17/hr – $56.06/hr

Location: Kent Campus Hospital, Dover, DE

Status: Full Time, 72 Hours biweekly

Shift: Nights, 12‑hour shifts

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in the acute care setting.
• Develop a patient‑centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient medical records.
• Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
• Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
• Demonstrate quality, safe and effective patient care.
• Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff.
• Demonstrate standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
• Demonstrate understanding and execute quality and performance improvement plans.
• Participate in decision making and take actions based on ethical principles.
• Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and

Experience:

• Education: Associate Degree Nursing or Nursing Diploma.
• Credential(s): Registered Nurse Basic Life Support. ACLS/PALS may be required; commitment to pursuing specialty certification as directed.
• Experience: Required:
  Pertinent experience in a relevant specialty. Preferred:
  Additional experience is a plus.
