General SummaryThree A (3A) is an Acuity Adaptable floor located at our Bayhealth Kent Campus in Dover. The unit is a 20 bed unit that cares for a variety of medically complex conditions including stroke, stroke‑like symptoms, telemetry, cardiac drips, continuous BiPAP and more. 3A is a certified stroke unit and staff on this floor are required to become NIHSS certified. 3A participates in the Nurse Residency Program and is a great place for new or experienced nurses.
The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices require specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill performed in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy.
Responsibilities- Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
- Develop a patient‑centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
- Maintain confidentiality of the patient medical record.
- Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
- Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
- Provide wound care and dressing changes as applicable.
- Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
- Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
- Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
- Demonstrate quality, safe and effective patient care.
- Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff.
- Demonstrate standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
- Demonstrate understanding and execute quality and performance improvement plans (only for RN evaluation).
- Participate in decision making and take actions based on ethical principles (only for RN evaluation).
- Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
- All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
- Education:
Associate Degree in Nursing - Credential(s):
Registered Nurse Basic Life Support - Credential(s): ACLS / PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe. Commit to seeking specialty certification within the time frame indicated during interview.

Experience in relevant specialty.
