Responsibilities
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Behavioral Health
Dover Behavioral Health System is a 104‑bed acute care psychiatric hospital located in Dover, Delaware. The facility offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. On average more than 10,000 patients receive care each year. The hospital ranks 6th for highest patient satisfaction among over 200 psychiatric hospitals in 2020.
Key Responsibilities- Administers medications as prescribed, provides education to patients and families, and documents accordingly.
- Completes nursing assessments, transcribes medication orders, and maintains patient records.
- Identifies patient problems, needs, and strengths, and suggests modifications to the treatment plan.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and provides age‑specific communication and interventions.
- Assists patients with daily living activities, reports changes in status, and prepares patients for discharge.
Required:
- Current license to practice nursing in the State of Delaware (or eligible to receive or renew)
Preferred:
- Current BLS certification (facility able to provide)
- Behavioral Health experience
Shift:
- 7a-7p
- Every other weekend rotation
Dover Behavioral Health System is a STAR LRP‑approved facility. The Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program allows qualified staff to have student loans paid off (up to $250,000). LPNs qualify.
