The Nursing Assistant position involves delivering clinical nursing services to patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse. After competency verification, the assistant may provide care to all age groups, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulating, transferring, feeding, observing, and reporting. Duties also include clerical tasks to support efficient patient care within hospital standards.

Department team members have limited access to secured medication rooms as defined in this job description. A completed Medication Security Agreement for Non‑Licensed Personnel form is required.

• Follow nursing assistant plan of care established by the Registered Nurse, including mouth care, bathing, AM/PM care, ambulation assistance, transfers, and vital sign documentation.
• Provide age‑appropriate care to patients on the assigned units.
• Maintain a safe, comfortable, therapeutic environment for patients and families.
• Communicate relevant patient information to a professional nurse in a timely manner and report problems immediately.
• Answer intercom or call lights courteously, ensuring proper communication.
• Perform patient care based on guidelines for diagnostic and therapeutic exams.
• Perform safety and suicide precaution sitter duties as assigned.
• Assist other nursing or ancillary department members as requested.
• Execute all other duties as assigned within scope of job responsibilities.

• High School Diploma or GED Certificate
• Completion of a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Patient Care Technician training course; or a clinical lab simulation course covering vital signs and ADLs; or active/common CNA certification (DE or other states); or one year of verifiable direct patient care experience.
• Credential(s):
  Basic Life Support

• Certified Nursing Assistant certification
• Relevant experience in nursing assistance
