Job Description:
The City of Dover is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Motor Equipment Operator II – Grounds Division in the Parks and Recreation Department. The primary duties of this position are to assist in performing a variety of mowing, landscaping, tree maintenance, flower bed maintenance and facility maintenance at the City’s 240 acres of property along with other assigned duties.
Job Responsibilities- Responsible for working outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
- Perform such duties as mowing grass, trimming and remove vegetation, trim trees, mulching, pulling weeds, blowing leaves, perform yard repairs, and plant and maintain flower beds.
- Inspect motor equipment daily and perform minor maintenance; complete job‑related logs and forms and assist in providing information to the public.
- This position is classified as essential personnel that will be required to assist with weather emergencies such as but not limited to snowstorms.
- High school diploma or a GED with one (1) year of related experience.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain a CDL permit within three (3) months and a CDL license within six (6) months of employment.
- A Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). associated with CDL is required along with a pre‑employment drug and alcohol test.
- Pesticide application license with ornamental turf & right‑of‑way endorsement or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.
A criminal background and driver’s license investigation will be required. Candidates may be given a job‑related test during the interview.
