Loop Root Foundation is a nonprofit, tax‑exempt organization dedicated to supporting justice‑impacted families by removing barriers to access, dignity, and opportunity. Our work focuses on transportation access, essential resources, and technology‑driven solutions that strengthen reentry, family connection, and long‑term stability.
The Loop Roots Foundation operates nationally, with an initial focus on underserved communities in Maryland, Arizona, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, California, and Virginia. Our key initiatives include:
- Loop Connect – a ride credit sponsorship platform that provides free or subsidized rides to prison visitation facilities, allowing families to stay in contact during incarceration.
- Loop Talk – a HIPAA‑compliant virtual therapy program offering trauma‑informed mental health care to justice‑impacted individuals and caregivers, including children.
- Loop Troop Rideshare Partnership – collaboration with the Loop Troop Rideshare platform to ensure families have access to safe, reliable, and culturally competent transportation services.
We are seeking a mission‑driven Mobile App Developer to support the development of our rideshare and transportation‑access mobile application. This role will focus on coding and building the core mobile app functionality that powers rider and driver experiences. The position is volunteer‑based during development, with the intention to transition into a paid role after product launch and funding activation.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain the mobile rideshare application (rider and driver flows)
- Write and maintain mobile app code for iOS and Android (native or cross‑platform)
- Build core rideshare features such as trip requests, routing, notifications, and in‑app communication
- Integrate APIs, mapping services, and backend systems
- Collaborate with UI/UX designers and product leads
- Ensure app performance, security, and scalability
- Troubleshoot issues and contribute to continuous improvements
- Experience building mobile applications (React Native, Flutter, Swift, Kotlin, or similar)
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and backend integration
- Experience with geolocation or location‑based services
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Strong problem‑solving and communication skills
- Experience with rideshare, logistics, or transportation platforms
- Familiarity with accessibility best practices
- Experience with secure authentication and user data protection
- Interest in social impact or nonprofit technology work
This is a volunteer position during development

25–30 hours per week with flexible scheduling.
