Position: High School French Teacher 2 (Dover, NH)
Overview

St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover, NH is seeking a qualified FRENCH TEACHER for grades 9-12 for the  school year.

Ideal Candidate
  • Possess a strong subject background, teaching experience, and a solid understanding of high school curriculum in French.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and implement the ACTFL Standards for proficiency-based language teaching and learning.
  • Bring enthusiasm, energy, and passion to the classroom through a variety of teaching and learning practices.
  • Connect positively with both students and families.
  • Support the Catholic mission of the school and engage fully in the life of the school community.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Explore collaborative and interdisciplinary teaching relationships with colleagues.
  • Use educational technology as a means for student gains and instructional design.
  • Possess a high level of emotional intelligence.
Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in French or related field is required, with a Master’s degree preferred.
  • One to three years of high school teaching experience, or applicable practicum/related program, is preferred.
  • Possession of New Hampshire state certification in appropriate subject area and/or the ability to work toward state certification.
Job Summary and Expectations

Under the supervision of the Principal and Department Chair, the Teacher:

  • Assumes responsibility for the leadership and management of the classes they are assigned.
  • Strives to achieve the goals of the St. Thomas Aquinas Mission Statement, the Catholic faith, and values.
  • Develops and implements a daily instructional program according to the needs of the students and the established curriculum.
  • Recognizes and incorporates the rich diversity of the students in the classroom and their unique God-given talents to foster a culture of belonging.
  • Maintains accurate records of attendance, scholastic achievement, etc., as required by the school, diocese, and state.
  • Establishes positive public relations within and outside the school community.
  • Commits to ongoing professional learning and growth.
