Overview
St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover, NH is seeking a qualified FRENCH TEACHER for grades 9-12 for the school year.
Ideal Candidate- Possess a strong subject background, teaching experience, and a solid understanding of high school curriculum in French.
- Demonstrate an understanding of and implement the ACTFL Standards for proficiency-based language teaching and learning.
- Bring enthusiasm, energy, and passion to the classroom through a variety of teaching and learning practices.
- Connect positively with both students and families.
- Support the Catholic mission of the school and engage fully in the life of the school community.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Explore collaborative and interdisciplinary teaching relationships with colleagues.
- Use educational technology as a means for student gains and instructional design.
- Possess a high level of emotional intelligence.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in French or related field is required, with a Master’s degree preferred.
- One to three years of high school teaching experience, or applicable practicum/related program, is preferred.
- Possession of New Hampshire state certification in appropriate subject area and/or the ability to work toward state certification.
Under the supervision of the Principal and Department Chair, the Teacher:
- Assumes responsibility for the leadership and management of the classes they are assigned.
- Strives to achieve the goals of the St. Thomas Aquinas Mission Statement, the Catholic faith, and values.
- Develops and implements a daily instructional program according to the needs of the students and the established curriculum.
- Recognizes and incorporates the rich diversity of the students in the classroom and their unique God-given talents to foster a culture of belonging.
- Maintains accurate records of attendance, scholastic achievement, etc., as required by the school, diocese, and state.
- Establishes positive public relations within and outside the school community.
- Commits to ongoing professional learning and growth.
