Job Summary

Position:
Ultrasound Technologist II at Wentworth‑Douglas Hospital, part of Mass General Brigham.

Hours:

24‑hour weekend shift (Saturday & Sunday 8:00 am‑8:30 pm) with optional 16‑hour weekday shift (Monday & Tuesday 7:00 am‑3:30 pm). Pay: $33.85–$49.99 per hour; $20,000 sign‑on bonus. Minimum pay rate $40.45; higher based on experience.

Essential Functions
  • Provides on‑the‑job instruction to employees in ultrasound procedures.
  • Provides clinical experience for diagnostic medical sonography students, instructing and guiding them through ultrasound procedures.
  • Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures, including transporting, transferring, immobilizing, and positioning.
  • Explains procedures to patients considering physical and emotional needs.
  • Independently performs advanced ultrasound technologist practitioner procedures (e.g., echocardiogram, vascular, doppler).
  • Records digital images as directed for radiologist interpretation.
  • Assists physicians in needle biopsies, renal biopsies, etc.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Associate’s Degree in Diagnostic Imaging or Diagnostic Medical Sonography required;
    Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences preferred. Experience cannot substitute for degree.
  • Licenses & Credentials:
    Radiologic Technologist and Technician (State License) preferred;
    Sonographer (State License) preferred;
    Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer preferred;
    Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) preferred;
    Certified Sonographer preferred.
  • Experience:

    3–5 years of ultrasound scanning with multiple patient populations required; 0–1 year leadership experience preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    Good communication; problem‑solving; independent work; ability to guide, teach, and motivate others; good business acumen.

  • Standing 34–66%, Walking 34–66%, Sitting Occasionally 3–33%.
  • Lifting 34–66% up to 35 lb. with assisted device, Carrying 34–66% 20–35 lb.
  • Pushing, Pulling, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Crawling, Reaching, Gross and Fine Manipulation frequently.
  • Feeling, Vision (far and near), Talking and Hearing constantly.
  • Foot use rarely, Climbing rarely.
