Summary
Responsible for providing direct assistance to the surgeon during surgical procedures and plays a critical role in ensuring the success and safety of surgical interventions.

Essential Functions- Provide direct assistance to the surgeon during surgical procedures.
- Assist in achieving and maintaining hemostasis by applying appropriate techniques and instruments.
- Collaborate with the surgical team in preparing and handling surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team, including the surgeon, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other team members.
- Advocate for patient safety and well-being throughout the surgical process.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of the surgical procedure, including instrument counts, procedures performed, and any intraoperative events or complications.
- Stay updated with advancements in surgical technology, techniques, and procedures.
High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Licenses and Credentials- Basic Life Support (BLS Certification)
- Certified Surgical First Assistant (CFA) – National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred
- Medical Technician (New Hampshire) – New Hampshire Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy
Experience as a Surgical Technologist or in a related role 3-5 years required
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and surgical techniques.
- Proficiency in sterile technique, aseptic practices, and infection control protocols.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle complex surgical scenarios.
- Understanding of patient advocacy and safety measures in the operating room.
