Full time – 40 hours per week. Work hours vary from 4:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday‑Friday, with a set third‑weekend rotation. Benefits begin on your first day.
Job SummaryEssential functions:
Collect blood specimens for tests, transfusions, donations, or research. Explain procedures to patients and monitor them for adverse reactions.
- Dispose of contaminated sharps in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies.
- Draw blood from veins using vacuum tube, syringe, or butterfly venipuncture methods.
- Dispose of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissues per applicable regulations.
- Draw blood from capillaries by dermal puncture, such as heel or finger stick methods.
- Enter patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into computer systems.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
ExperienceNone required. Prefer one or more years of experience in phlebotomy/lab.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Knowledge of various techniques in collecting specimens.
- Familiarity with HIPAA and OSHA regulations and maintaining discretion over sensitive patient information.
- Effective communication skills and ability to convey information clearly.
- Proficiency with proper collection methods and specimen processing.
- Superior customer service, clear communication, empathy, and respect for patients' privacy.
- Knowledge and practice of proper aseptic techniques necessary to prevent injury.
