Overview
The American Red Cross of Northern New England is seeking volunteers in Dover, NH to provide 24-hour emergency response to local disasters, particularly house fires, ensuring that those affected have access to resources for basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing.
Responsibilities- Take required trainings to be equipped to support families/individuals who have been displaced by local emergencies including house fires and other incidents.
- Sign up for on-call shifts to be available to respond when needed.
- Show compassion and respect for all clients and maintain client confidentiality.
- Help connect clients with Red Cross and other resources to ensure basic needs are met (shelter, food, clothing, medication, etc.) and assist with referrals to Mental Health, Spiritual Care, and Health Services as needed.
- Consider training to assist with larger-scale national disasters in a variety of basic and advanced leadership roles.
- Passion for the Red Cross mission.
- At least basic computer skills and effective communication abilities.
- Flexibility and willingness to help the community.
